the olympics were in the uk. one direction is from the uk. taylor swift is not from the uk. it is understandable why taylor wouldn’t open the olympics, because i don’t know if you’re aware of this but on these ceremonies, only perform people from the country that’s hosting the olympics. the grammys, however, can be opened up by any artist. one direction could have been chosen to open the grammys. they weren’t. so your argument is invalid.
